New Music Tuesday 2-26-13

Some cool new music out today. I'll highlight a few I'm digging then list the rest. Add your comments! I'd like to know what you're into right now. Also note that I don't just listen to rock and metal. I'm not asking you to like the stuff I like. I'm just, like, saying that I like, like it. So, like, relax. Ass.

Atoms For Peace

This is the band featuring Flea (Chili Peppers) and Thom Yorke (Radiohead). It sounds more like Thom's band than Flea's. It's electronic-y, experimental-y rock.

I LOVED this band's 2008 record "Oblivion Beckons" and was bummed when they broke up a couple years back. This record was funded via kickstarter. It's cool proggy/thrash metal. If you like metal of that ilk, check them out.

The Civil Wars & T Bone Burnett

"A Place At The Table Movie Soundtrack"

T Bone!!! I love yelling the name T Bone. Do it. Fun, right? He's an incredibly talented guy behind all sorts of great records (Robert Plant/Allison Krauss among them). I love the Civil Wars and the combination is great. A Place At The Table is a documentary chronicling hunger in America. A percentage of the proceeds go to charity. Oh and, TBONE!!

Steven Wilson

"The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories)"

Steven Wilson is best known for his incredible band Porcupine Tree and his work with (one of my all time favorite bands) Opeth. This record is really beautiful stuff. I've read some reviews calling it magical and I'd tend to agree. Immensely talented guy.

More I Dig:

  •  Mount Mariah 'Miracle Temple" - Country-folky stuff. The singer's voice reminds me of Dolly Parton.
  • James Hunter Six 'Minute By Minute'- Old school motown-ish rock. Cool. (Update- been listening to this most of the day. REALLY dig it)
  • Within The Ruins 'Elite'- I guess you'd call it deathcore. Pretty solid.

Also Out Today (but I haven't listened to it yet):

So this site just launched and there will be some issues here and there. I KNOW you will let me know because you can't help yourself. Like if I had a typo in here, you'd be all over it. ALL. OVER. IT.

Really though, thanks for visiting. I'll be adding new stuff all the time.

If you're a radio programmer in search of a quality addition to your team, and they won't return your calls, maybe contact me. To do so, please head to the voicetracking page.
